During the maintenance and repair of wind turbines, skilled workers regularly work at great heights. But what happens if an emergency occurs up there? Anyone who regularly works under demanding conditions needs to be confident that a swift response is possible in an emergency.
This question was the focus of a high-altitude rescue exercise that took place on August 26th at our wind turbine in Lambsheim.
The exercise was conducted by GAIA in cooperation with the Kaiserslautern Fire Department. We were given insights into the professional and precise work of the specialist team for rescue from heights and depths (SRHT), which is specifically trained for such scenarios. Unlike a conventional turntable ladder, the high-angle rescue team can reach even difficult-to-access areas and operate safely even under the most challenging weather conditions such as wind, rain, or ice.
For us, one thing is certain: safety always comes first.
Thank you GAIA and the Kaiserslautern fire department for the exciting insights into high-angle rescue training!
A big thank you also to Niklas Röhrl Thanks to GOGRAPHIC MEDIA for the great shots and photographic documentation.
